We all have our individual goals but when we unite with another we have two people who need to work together and be able to navigate through life with common goals. We often forget why we chose a person of have certain challenges that we need to face together. Sometimes there are things that can drive a wedge between two people and learning how to move through this is part of the therapeutic process.
Some of challenges couples need assistance with can include:
- Pre-maritial counselling
- Effective communications training
- Conflict resolution
- Setting common goals
- Sex therapy
- Working through difficulties such a trauma, infidelity or the loss of a child
- Understanding their partner better
It doesn’t matter what the challenge is if two people want the relationship to work, we can work towards having a more meaningful and satisfying relationship for both people.
Relationship tips: Ask yourself: What drew me to this person to begin with? What qualities did they possess that I found valuable? What made them so amazing? Reevaluating the reasons we came together reminds you of the reasons to stay together, and this can strengthen your foundation.
Some Types of therapy I use depending on the problem are:
- Communications Training
- Interactional pattern analysis
- Hypnotherapy
- Brainspotting
- Brain Working recursive therapy (BWRT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Meditation
