1. What is it like to consult a psychologist?
Many people find it difficult to make the decision to see a psychologist. They may find that they feel uneasy speaking to someone new about their inner struggles and feel anxious about going. This is completely normal. However, in my experience after the first session clients feel a great sense of relief, feeling heard and understood. They usually also feel more hopeful as clear goals are set for the therapeutic process with interventions to assist.
2. What can I expect from a consult?
In the first consult you will fill in an intake form and the terms and conditions will be agreed upon. We will then have a 50-60 minute session where you can talk about the issues that has brought you to therapy. We work on setting goals and agree on how regular you will be able to attend therapy. I usually recommend attending therapy once a week for a few sessions for progress to be made.

4. Will my medical aid cover my therapy sessions?
I am contracted into all medical schemes and have a company who claims on behalf of my clients after their consultation sessions. You can bring your card along to the first consult if you will be using your medical aid to cover sessions. I charge medical aid rates. Its best to confirm with your medical aid if the plan you are on covers therapy sessions and how many sessions are covered. If your medical aid does not cover therapy sessions or your funds are depleted you will be responsible for the fees.
5. What happens if I would like to book for couples or marital therapy?
If booking for couples or marital therapy please book two initial individual sessions. I need to see each person individually to determine what the specific problems are and to prepare you for joint sessions. Should couples not be ready for joint sessions we will have individual sessions until they are.
6. What do I need to do if I would like to book a session for my child?
If booking a session for a child I will need to see a parent/parents first for the initial session for history taking if the child is under the age of 16 years old. Thereafter we will discuss when sessions will be held and how feedback can be given.
7. What happens if I do not keep a scheduled appointment?
Appointments can be rescheduled via phone, text or WhatsApp and not via the Google reminder. Appointments cancelled less than 24 hours in advance are charged for by the practice in full.
8. Fees
Payment can be made via medical aid, card or cash.
If you use medical aid I will charge the approved rate of your medical aid. Clients remain responsible for the account, should there be insufficient funds available. It is recommended that you contact your medical aid to confirm if they cover psychological services and what funds are available.
If paying by cash/credit card you will be required to pay for the session on the same day. I have credit card facilities at the practice. Rates for an individual session whether face to face or virtual or online is R950.00 per 51-60 minute session.
Please allow at least 24 hour notice when cancelling a session. Sessions cancelled without 24 hour notice will be charged for in full.
