My journey & development in

Psychotherapy

“It’s not a question of learning much. On the contrary.
It’s a question of UNLEARNING much.” Osho

I am very passionate about the intricate field of studying human behaviour. During my journey in development as a psychotherapist I have gained various degrees as well as many years of experience in various contexts acquiring therapeutic skill. I started my undergraduate degree at RAU in 2000 (B.A Psych) and in 2004 did my Honours degree in psychology (Hons Psych).

My path

In my profession

2005

In 2005 I qualified as a psychometrist at the Institute of Child and Adult guidance at University of Johannesburg and gained specialised knowledge in administration and interpretation of psychological assessments. I did various courses through the Johannesburg Parent and Child Counselling Centre at this time and worked as a counsellor.

2006

In 2006 I started my degree of MSc (Psychology) at the University of Limpopo (MEDUNSA Campus). During this year I was trained by the leading psychologists in the field of interpsychic psychology involving systems, communication and client-centred psychotherapy. I became a interactional focused psychotherapist and this specialised journey of looking at interactional patterns in human behaviour still continues.

Masters Degree

Once I completed my Masters degree I completed a one year internship at SANCA (Johannesburg Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre) and Doctor George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Ga-Rankuwa. As part of my community service I worked at Weskoppies Psychiatric Hospital situated in Pretoria Central where I gained experience in more severe clinical pathology.

Permanent Post

I was then offered a permanent post at Doctor George Mukhari Academic Hospital in Garankuwa where I spent 5 years learning. In this position I headed the psychiatric unit of the hospital, as well as trained and supervised intern clinical psychologists and provided lectures to medical students.

Since 2013

Since 2013 I have been in full time private practice assisting various people from all walks of life to heal and resolve a wide range of psychological challenges. I have also subsequently been trained in many different therapeutic modalities and use them appropriately to each of my clients among these are relaxation, medication, cognitive behaviour therapy, hypnosis, brainspotting and brain working recursive therapy.

Ongoing

I also have a particular interest for working with children and teens and adapt therapeutic techniques to effectively assist young people who are also struggling.
