Conflict resolution

When it comes to relationships there are many dynamics that can result in couples experiencing turmoil. I see many times that couples seek therapy when things have already started to fall apart. This may be due to the shame they feel with having to see a therapist or allowing someone into their personal lives. It could also be because life is so rushed that we don’t find the time to spend on our relationship. Before you realise it you have drifted apart and often couples start looking elsewhere to meet their needs. This could involve another person, but it could also be work, sport, drinking or hobbies to name a few. However, learning to communicate effectively, being aware of the impact you have on each other, investing in your shared interests and attempting to meet each other’s needs can tremendously increase the satisfaction that you once had in your relationship.
